Online Safety
Children increasingly use the internet and technology in their daily lives to learn, research, play and communicate. The online world is a useful place for young people to explore, with great opportunities for learning and creativity, but just like the real world, there are risks and dangers that children should be aware of and which we should all act to protect them from. As a school, we encourage the use of technology as an important part of our students’ development but always want them to spend their time online safely.
In our computing lessons, we support children to be safe online at home as well as at school. At the beginning of the school year, pupils sign an online safety agreement which reinforces the messages we give in these lessons. Furthermore, there is an assembly each half term that has a different online safety focus to continue to consolidate learning in class
Moreover, we celebrate Safer Internet Day each year. This allows us to celebrate the positive use of technology. In 2023 the theme was: ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’.
If you would like further information about how to keep your child safe online, please see the CEOP and DfE sites.
